Space Rocket Themed Activities with FREEBIES!

Continuing with the Space Theme, Izzie has been reading "On The Launch Pad' and "Roaring Rockets".

They made roaring rockets!!

I just love how she added an astronaut!

Writing her alphabet...a great way to focus on her letters and improve her handwriting.

Writing simple sentences with sight words (here, is, the) and color words. She absolutely loves reading the simple sentences when she's done!

Here Are the Space Rockets

Izzie is really enjoying this new way to review her sight words! Inspiration is from 1+1+1=1. Instead of dotting the words this time, she drew shapes!

Working on sounding out and spelling --am family words. Blending mat can be found here.

Short a Word Families

Sounding out and writing --am family words, then coloring the space rockets the correct color.

Izzie was introduced to the terms "vowels" and "consonants". As of now, she only knows the short vowel sounds. In this activity, she had to say the CVC picture word, decide which short vowel was in the word, then paste it under the correct letter.

Inspiration for this activity came from Mrs. Lee's Kindergarten. I found the sheet of picture cards (short and long vowels) from one of my many Mailbox books.

I've included a handout for both short vowels and long vowels.

For more short vowel practice, she completed this handout....choosing the correct vowel sound to make the picture word correct. Inspiration from Mrs. Lee's Kindergarten.

Be sure to check out my Astronaut post with more FREEBIES!

Enjoy!
